Photo Archive

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

I just added a section to the website called the Archive. It’s a searchable database of photos where you can select your choices and save them in a “lightbox”. The first set of photos was from 03/16/2010 sunrise shoot of Mount Washington from Wildcat Ski Area.

New Mount Washington Panoramics

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

On March 16, 2010 I skinned up Wildcat to photograph the east side of Mount Washington before the spring thaw came. While it wasn’t a perfectly clear sunrise, there was some nice dawn light and alpenglow. Here are two panoramics I created from photos taken that morning. They both show the main features of Mount Washington’s east side; from left to right are the Gulf of Slides, Tuckerman Ravine, and Huntington Ravine.

Pre Sunrise:

Photo Details: 5 individual photos merged in Photoshop, Canon 5D on tripod w/ EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM lens @ 90mm, 1/40s @ f/4 and ISO 200.

Sunrise:

Photo Details: 4 individual photos merged in Photoshop, Canon 5D on tripod w/ EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM lens @ 95mm, 1/100s @ f/4 and ISO 200.

Diagonal

Ryman McLane telemark skiing a steep gully near Tuckerman Ravine on Mount Washington. I’ve heard this gully called either Diagonal or Stovepipe and it’s located skier’s right of Dodge’s Drop. Whatever you want to call it, Diagonal or Stovepipe is steep and not often in good condition.

Photo Details: Canon 5D w/ 17-40mm f/4 L USM lens @ 17mm, 1/500s @ f/8 and ISO 100.

Mount Eisenhower Sunset

Friday, October 30th, 2009

potd_09.01.4.3

This photo was taken during an amazing sunset in September of 2001, the main peak on the right is Mount Eisenhower in the southern Presidential Range. I did a small amount of Photoshop work to clean up the scan; but, yes, it did look like this.

Photo Details: Nikon F80 SLR and Fuji slide film.
