Kismet

Friday, November 6th, 2009

Kismet Rock Foundation is a non-profit based out of North Conway, New Hampshire. Here is the mission statement from the website:

Kismet Rock Foundation (KRF) offers comprehensive courses in rock climbing and mountaineering to children who, because of financial limitations, would not otherwise have access to such an education. Based in North Conway, New Hampshire, KRF accepts emotionally stable and well-functioning youth from both urban and rural areas into its programs. KRF’s goal is to offer children an opportunity to benefit from the immense value inherent in a climbing education.

Kismet is holding it’s annual benefit event this Saturday November 7th at Black Mountain Ski Area in Jackson, NH. It’s called Caliente!; there are tickets left if you want to attend and support Kismet.

Night in Zion

potd_200903_210

This photo has a bit of grain/noise in it, but that’s the image quality tradeoff when taking long exposures with a small camera. You’re looking at climbers in portaledges on the climb Lunar Ecstasy in Zion National Park, taken on the climb Sheer Lunacy.

Photo Details: Panasonic Lumix LX3 on mini tripod, 30s at f/2.8 and ISO 400.

Endeavor

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Fall foliage is reaching peak in many areas of northern New Hampshire and there’s no better way to view it than on a cliff.

Jess Charpentier climbing the upper hand crack of Endeavor on White’s Ledge (Mount Stanton) in Bartlett, New Hampshire. The climbing on Endeavor could be described as “decent”, but the foliage view and adventure make it a great climb. Photo taken October 1, 2009.

Photo Details: Panasonic Lumix LX3 point and shoot, 1/640s at f/4 and ISO 200. The Panasonic Lumix LX3 is a great small camera. It’s a little bigger than pocket size, but has great image quality.
